Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman is seeking to expand the air connectivity between several countries of Africa, linking the two big continents.
Botswana
Recently, the Sultanate of Oman signed Air Services Agreement with the Republic of Botswana signed an to enhance air connectivity and regulate operational and technical aspects, creating broader opportunities for passenger and air cargo transport services between the two countries.
The agreement includes regulating operational and technical aspects in support of the shared interests of the two countries in the field of air transport services regulation, operating an unlimited number of direct flights, enabling airlines to expand their operational networks, and codeshare arrangements between airlines.
Angola
The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Angola signed also signed agreement on areas of cooperation, which includes operating of unlimited direct flights, enabling airlines to expand their operational networks, codeshare arrangements, besides regulatory and technical cooperation.
Rwanda
SalamAir recently launched a flight connecting Muscat and Kigali, to strengthen aviation links and economic cooperation between the Republic of Rwanda, the Sultanate of Oman, and the wider Middle East.
Somalia
SalamAir commenced operations to Mogadishu, Somalia from September 3, introducing a new direct air link between the capitals of Oman and Somalia. Mogadishu is expected to support business activity, family travel and increased business-to-business engagement, while creating a new travel corridor between Oman and East Africa.
SalamAir has been operating flights to Nairobi, Port Sudan, Cairo in Africa, while Oman Air has services to Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar.
Besides the national airlines of the Sultanate of Oman, Egyptair (Cairo), Ethiopian Airlines (Addis Ababa), and Air Tanzania (Dar es Salaam) also operate to flights to Africa.
